Via Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech and has completed some coursework towards a Masters Degree in Architecture. Sean is the Owner of Slate Creek Builders, LLC and holds a Virginia Class A Contractor’s License. He is a third generation Civil Engineer and Builder and grew up in and around construction, working for his family's construction and development company as well as several local builders while growing up in Blacksburg and attending Virginia Tech.
After college, Sean framed houses in Denver, Colorado before getting into a career developing CAD and positioning technologies in the early days of Building Information Modeling (BIM). Sean's work has brought him onto construction projects all over the world and onto some of the largest and most complex construction projects in North America including Frank Gehry projects, airports, stadiums and arenas, hospitals, high-rises, government and military bases/facilities.
Since founding Slate Creek Builders in 2010, Sean has focused on education as his custom design build company has evolved. Sean is an at large member of NAHB Remodelers and is an annual attendee of NAHB’s International Builders Show where he attends educational sessions, discovers new products and networks with other builders. Sean has received NAHB certifications for CGP (Certified Green Professional) and CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specialist)
Sean is also a member of an NAHB Builder 20 Club - Remodeler club R9 - ‘The Mavericks’. Builder 20 assembles builders/remodelers from all over the country to work together to improve all aspects of their construction businesses. The Mavericks are now part of the Slate Creek Builders family and are Sean’s de facto ‘Board of Directors’ and the group collaborates on any and all business related issues including financials, comprehensive sales through production processes, succession planning and anything else that may come up in a typical day as a builder.
